27,000 soak up sunshine at Swords Summer Festival

The second annual Swords Summer Festival hosted by Fingal County Council took place last weekend, with the 27,000 people in attendance all enjoying the sunshine.

The festival, which was a fundraiser for the Swords Lions Club,  kicked off with incredible performances from the Three Tenors and Roy Taylor on Friday night who raised the roof off the Marquee in the Town Park.

On show were stilt walkers, bouncy castles and fun galore, as FM104 broadcasted live from the town and added to the fantastic atmosphere. The Magical Musical Marquee kept the younger children entertained with performances throughout the day from Waffles the Wonderful, Magic Darragh and the Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

Also featured was the launch of the Swords Tidy Towns Youthreach Green Project at Youthreach on North Street, as well as the launch of The Well Project at St. Colmcille’s Well in the Festival programme. Also returning for its fifth year was the Fingal 10K Road Race, in which almost 4,000 people took part.
