Cork County Council Chief Executive Disappointed by Urban Renewal Funding Allocation

The Chief Executive of Cork County Council Ann Doherty has described the the county’s allocation for urban renewal under the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund as ‘disappointing.’

The fund consisted of €100 million with €7 million being allocated to urban renewal projects for Cork city and county. Ms Doherty was also critical of the lack of clarity surrounding the allocation of funds to date.

Ms Doherty said ” “We are delighted to be getting some support, but I am disappointed in the context of the national declaration of the role of Cork as a real alternative to Dublin and its priority in the National Planning Framework, as well as the Taoiseach’s language about Cork being key to Ireland’s success.”
