New Cool Route Project Website Now Live

Donegal County Council’s role in promoting a major new tourist initiative received a major boost this week as its project website was formally launched. The Cool Route project investigates all aspects of the practical logistics and business potential to establish a bi-directional yacht cruising route along the western offshore areas of the Northern Periphery Area, stretching from Co. Cork in the South of Ireland, to the UK (Northern Ireland and Western Scotland) and onwards to the Faroe Islands and Norway.

As an eco-tourism product, exploiting the natural resources of the zone in a manner that is sustainable and environmentally viable; this new sea route will be marketed internationally and will have a common branding, booking and information system. The project will also address the future legacy of its work; by ensuring that the Cool Route continues as a viable self-financing economic entity, following the completion of the project.

Donegal County Council has responsibility for the communications element of the Cool Route project and is delighted that the new website is now live.Ms. Joy Harron, of Associate Partner organisation Donegal Tourism Ltd, said: “The new project Cool Route website is an excellent resource for those who wish to find out more about the project, to get involved and to keep up to date with the latest news.”

Lots of information about the project can be found on the website including aims, objectives and partner information. The website also features a secure partner login area to facilitate the sharing of documents, data and other information amongst partners.

A ‘News’ section on the new website is where various articles, stories and other information about the Cool Route project will be published.
