As Storm Emma hits the country Irish people are urged to stay indoors from 4pm today (March 1st) until 3pm tomorrow (March 2nd).
Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann have cancelled all services today.
Meanwhile, a limited Luas service is operating on both the Green and Red Line, but services will stop completely at midday.
Supermarket closing hours are as follows:
All Tesco stores today will close at 2pm with stores re-opening tomorrow (Friday) from 1pm, subject to weather conditions.
On Saturday Grocery Home Shopping deliveries will resume subject to weather conditions.
All trading hours will be kept under review on a localised basis.
Christine Heffernan, Corporate Affairs, Director, Tesco Ireland said:
“We’re closing all stores today at 2pm today in line with the guidance from the Government to ensure that all of our colleagues have time to get home safely.
“We’re really proud of our teams who’ve worked really hard this week to serve customers in such challenging circumstances.
“We will reopen on Friday afternoon subject to weather conditions and we ask our customers to be patient with us as we try to get back up and running as quickly as possible.”
All Lidl stores across the Republic of Ireland will close at 3pm today until 1pm tomorrow (Friday).
A spokesperson said:
“Upon reopening, we ask customers for patience with our store teams who will have just resumed normal operations.
“We are continuing to assess and monitor the situation as it happens. As always the health and safety of all colleagues and customers remains an absolute priority.
“Decisions may be taken at individual store level to extend this closure period depending on localised weather conditions.”
On the back of extended Governent advice to stay indoors, which now applies to the whole of ROI, we will extend the previously communicated closures in Leinster & Munster to the rest of the Republic of Ireland. All stores will now be closed from 3pm today until Friday afternoon.

All of Aldi’s 130 across Ireland will close today from 1pm and re-open at 5pm tomorrow (Friday).
A spokesperson for Aldi said:
“We are monitoring the situation closely and if there are any changes we will communicate this tomorrow morning.”
Dunnes Stores issued an updated statement today including stores that will remain closed tomorrow (Friday).
“Due to further bad weather overnight all Dunnes Stores in ROI and NI will be closed today Thursday March 1 and will not reopen until 1pm Friday March 2 – this reopening is subject to weather improvement.
