3 Counties Energy Agency Podcast Featuring Alexandra Hamilton

In this weeks Q&A, our Council editor Jack Mullen spoke to Senior Energy Engineer at 3 Counties Energy Agency (3CEA), Alexandra Hamilton.

The 3 Counties Energy Agency (3CEA) formerly (CKEA) was established in 2002 as a partnership between Carlow and Kilkenny local Authorities and the two county development companies. The Agency’s aim is to support the development of sustainable energy in Co. Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and beyond.

The Agency is committed to providing a comprehensive range of services to all sectors in each county with a view to implementing sustainable energy projects which are developed using best practice. The Agency works in the fields of energy efficiency, energy management, renewable energy and sustainable transport.

The Agency is linked to a network of other energy agencies in Ireland and Europe. It is a founding member of the Association of Irish Energy Agencies (www.aiea.ie) and is the second Irish member of FEDARENE (the European Federation of Regional Energy and Environment Agencies) (www.fedarene.org). The combined experience of the Agency’s staff ensures that it can provide a dynamic and comprehensive range of services to all sectors.

The 3CEA will play a strategic role regionally, partnering with its members and supporting all stakeholders on their energy transition journey to 2030 and beyond. 3cea will continue to play a leading role in the region by initiating exemplar local actions, working in collaboration with our member groups.

In the podcast, Alexandra talked about a whole host of topics including navigating the challenges that have been brought about as a result of Covid-19, the need for a greater level of female participation in the energy sector and how non-profits such as 3CEA can empower citizens.
