A Q&A with Will O’Brien, VP, Growth & Government Affairs at Zipp Mobility

In this podcast we spoke to Will O’Brien of Zipp Mobility. Will is Vice-President for Growth and Government Affairs at Zipp Mobility, the Irish e-scooter sharing operator.

Will previously worked in strategy consulting and business analytics and now leads Zipp’s relationships with a number of local authorities in the UK where Zipp run shared e-scooter schemes.

Founded in 2019 by Charlie Gleeson, Zipp is a dockless scooter sharing company launching in the UK and Ireland in 2020. Zipp’s mission is to reduce congestion and greenhouse gas emissions by providing affordable micro-mobility alternatives that enhance the quality of life of communities across the world.

In this discussion, which was carried out (virtually) earlier this week, Will along with one of our Council.ie representatives spoke about topics ranging from the legality of e-scooters on Irish roads to the work that is being done by Zipp and local authorities around Ireland and the UK.

Will, who spoke openly about the developments of micro-mobility insinuated that the growth of these types of transport will act to interconnect some of the transport networks that are said to already exist within Ireland and the UK.

Lastly, Will, who is clearly an advocate of e-scooters was quick to stress the importance that future legislation will have on either the failure or success of contemporary modes of micro-mobility.
