Following on from last year’s launch of ‘green loans’ by The Irish League of Credit Unions credit unions in conjunction with Retrofit Ireland and financial institutions like Bank of Ireland and AIB, An Post is to launch a new green loan scheme.
The proposed launch of the ‘Green Hub’ by An Post will provide end-to-end project management and advice for all levels of home retrofitting and this will be supported by a competitive loan rate for retrofits or electric cars. Due to delays associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, the Green Hub is expected to be launched later this year.
Government grants for up to 50% of the value of retrofits are available through the SEAI with total costs ranging up to €40,000. An Post aim to provide cheaper finance options for the balance.
An Post will partner with its existing financial services intermediary, Avantcard to provide the loans.
