In an announcement made yesterday, AT&T, Dublin City and IDA Ireland revealed their intentions explore a Smart Cities Development.
The agreement between AT&T, IDA Ireland and Dublin City Council will see the three parties collaborate and exchange information about smart cities solutions.
This initiative will foster an open dialogue of IoT best practices with Ireland and Dublin, with a view to improving functions like transportation, lighting, safety and sustainability.
The US communications giant, AT&T said it was also open to working on IoT-related development projects across the country, including Dublin’s Docklands IoT project.
Smart cities solutions can offer citizens many benefits in sustainability, transportation, public safety, infrastructure and more. AT&T are currently working with several US cities on projects ranging from water conservation to intelligent lighting to citizen engagement
Speaking on the agreement, Mike Zeto, general manager, AT&T Smart Cities said “IoT solutions are already generating a measurable value for businesses. And around the world, more cities are realising the impact IoT solutions can have on making their communities more efficient, sustainable and enjoyable,” said Mike Zeto, general manager, AT&T Smart Cities.
