Be Winter Ready Campaign 2021/2022

The 2021/2022 ‘Be Winter Ready’ Campaign launched on 17 November 2021. This page provides a number of sources for up-to-date information on transport services and roads during severe weather.

For more information on planning for winter and updates during severe weather, you can follow the Office of Emergency Planning on Twitter.

You can find information on the campaign at the Be Winter Ready website. The website has advice and information on how to prepare for winter;- and includes a number of targeted leaflets on themes such as flooding, farming, health and road safety.

Local Authorities

Local authorities can provide details of the priority roads in your county to be salted in the event of ice or snow. Phone and email contact details for your local authorities are available on the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage website. A number of local authorities are now using free alert services to keep the public updated on disruptions in their area. The alerts can cover issues such as flooding, road closures, and water supply disruptions.

Road Safety Authority

The Road Safety Authority provides information and advice on road safety during severe weather. Advice on driving in snow, on wet roads, flooded roads and in icy conditions, is provided in a number of short videos on the Severe Weather Advice area of their website.
