Dungarvan Celebrates With First Ever PRIDE Festival

On Saturday, June 18th, Dungarvan’s first ever PRIDE Festival will take place in Walton Park, Dungarvan.

A celebration of LGBTQ+ people and culture, the event boasts a fun and exciting programme filled with music, food, family fun, magic and drag!

Emilene Stafford, one of the committee’s co-chairs, is looking forward to Dungarvan’s inaugural PRIDE Festival, saying, “while the day is about celebrating LGBTQ+ people, it is a day to be enjoyed and celebrated by everyone. We would encourage young and old, gay and straight to come along and help us make this PRIDE festival one of the biggest and brightest in the country.”

“The programme has something for everyone. Along with the great music and entertainment, there will be a real festival vibe to the day as people can picnic in the park and soak up the electric atmosphere.”

Commencing at 4pm, the line-up includes an opening ceremony by Lady Fi Fi Fondu, a dance performance by the Kirby School of Performing Arts, circus mayhem from the Wobbly Circus, the ultimate lip sync battle, music by Avi and the Dream Girls Drag Show to round off the entertainment.

Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr. Joe Kelly said, “Waterford City and County Council is proud to support the inaugural PRIDE festival in Dungarvan. The day is not just about music, magic and colour, it is also about celebrating diversity, and promoting inclusion and belonging in our communities.”

“The town itself will also be adorned with colour as rainbow banners and bunting will be displayed throughout the town centre for the month of June. I’m delighted to see so many local businesses and individuals supporting the festival and pulling out all the stops to help make PRIDE Dungarvan the first of many.”
