Fingal County Council has launched its inaugural Public Service Innovation Week with a showcase of Digital Innovation talks for staff.
Public Service Innovation Week is an initiative of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform under OurPublicSevice2020. The aim of this week is to encourage public sector organisations to highlight innovation in the workplace and to support a culture of innovation.
Last July, Chief Executive AnnMarie Farrelly signed a Declaration on Public Service Innovation in Ireland. The declaration is a key component of the Our Public Service 2020 strategy which is designed to support the development of public servants and public service organisations.
As part of the Declaration, the Council commits to enabling, supporting and equipping employees to innovate in their roles, to cultivate new partnerships and incorporate diverse views when designing and delivering services.
Fingal has been a key driver for digital innovation across the public sector and especially digital that improves quality of life. The Digital Innovation talks showcase how the Council are digitally transforming public services, delivering better outcomes for staff and citizens.
Mayor of Fingal Cllr Eoghan O’Brien said: “It’s great to see the showcase of the many innovative digital projects that the Council is delivering, from rolling out digital infrastructure projects like town centre WiFi to developing smart mobility projects like the expansion of car and bike sharing schemes in Fingal.”

Public Service Innovation Week runs from December 9 to 13.
