Dublin City Council is proud to present Pedalpalooza, a FREE multi-activity event, celebrating all aspects of cycling taking place on Sunday 22nd May from 12pm to 4pm in Fairview Park as part of National Bike Week 2022.
Pedalpalooza aims to celebrate and promote the benefits of cycling by hosting a range of fun activities and a FREE family friendly cycling event for all.
Pedalpalooza, organised by Dublin City Council and supported by the National Transport Authority, seeks to demonstrate the various ways cycling can be integrated into everyday life. Participants will learn about the benefits of cycling and how sustainable modes of transport can have a positive impact on our health, our bank balance and our environment.
A wide range of activities suitable for all ages and abilities will be on offer in the park to get people moving and to promote a more sustainable urban mobility culture including children’s cycle skills course, bike maintenance workshops, e-bike and cargo bike demos, information tents, music and much more!
Speaking about the event, Lord Mayor of Dublin Alison Gilliland said, “I am delighted that Pedalpalooza is coming back to Fairview Park – it was hugely popular in 2021, attracting people of all ages and abilities. This event allows people to experience how fun, social and sustainable cycling is through a host of activities. It is particularly important that we provide opportunities for children to participate in cycling and learn about sustainable modes of transport. It is an invaluable life skill that delivers many health and environmental benefits whilst also providing opportunities for social interaction with peers and offering greater independence. I have no doubt Pedalpalooza 2022 will again prove to be a brilliant day out for everyone.”
Deirdre Kelly, Cycling & Walking Officer with Dublin City Council stated, “we are delighted to host Pedalpalooza again this year and build on the success of the inaugural event in 2021. Our aim at Pedalpalooza is to celebrate all aspects of cycling and promote the benefits for both our individual health and the planet. We encourage people of all ages and abilities to come to Fairview Park this Sunday. No matter what age or ability – there is something for everyone.”
