Ten Fingal Initiatives Nominated in the 2020 LAMA Awards

Ten initiatives in Fingal have been nominated across eight categories for the LAMA Awards on February 15th, 2020 in Croke Park Stadium.

They cross a range of issues including Best Heritage Project, Best Disability Access & Inclusion Initiative and many more. These nominations are the culmination of work undertaken by Fingal County Council in conjunction with community groups and businesses in Fingal and continue to show the investment that is being placed into services and heritage projects in the County.

The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Eoghan O’Brien, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in these initiatives, community groups, local businesses and Fingal staff, that have put time and work into these projects such as the conservation and restoration of the Casino Building in Malahide, the continued work on our three public parks in Malahide, Newbridge and Tyrrelstown, and the ‘Community Car’ Age-Friendly Sustainable Transport Service in Fingal. These nominations are the deserved results of all the great work that has been done.”

The All Ireland Community and Council Awards are presented by IPB Insurance and LAMA, and for 14 years they have recognised and honoured the ways that communities and councils work together.

A total of 158 entries were considered this year, with Nominations coming from Local Authority Councillors across the island of Ireland who select projects that enhance local areas for the good of the community.

AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, added: “Being nominated in so many categories in this year’s LAMA Awards goes to show the dedicated work that has been put into these initiatives. I would like to thank all those involved in these projects especially the Fingal staff and Fingal community groups for all the work they have done. They have helped to create some of the best initiatives by a local authority in Ireland over the past year.”
