Tourism Ireland Hosts Virtual Travel Expo ‘Down Under’

Twenty-seven tourism companies from the island of Ireland are taking part in Tourism Ireland’s ‘Ireland Virtual Travel Expo’ for Australia and New Zealand – which kicks off today, 7th September.

The ‘Ireland Virtual Travel Expo’ is a two-day B2B tourism event, organised by Tourism Ireland to allow the tourism companies from Ireland – as well as four tour operators based in Australia and New Zealand – to connect with more than 100 Australian and New Zealand travel agents and tour operators, as well as influential travel journalists.

Tourism Ireland will facilitate, via an online system, a series of one-to-one, pre-scheduled video appointments. Although travel from Australia and New Zealand is not possible right now, the aim is to promote the island of Ireland to these influential travel advisors, to position us well for when the time is right to welcome their clients once again.

The virtual event will also include a series of webinars, which will highlight our luxury, outdoors and soft adventure offering, as well as opportunities for travel for small groups. Attendees will be entertained by short videos showcasing our superb food, music and dance – featuring celebrity chef Kevin Dundon, the Shamrock Tenors and Riverdance.

Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said, “Tourism Ireland is delighted that over 100 Australian and New Zealand travel advisors are taking the time to join us, and our partners from the island of Ireland, for our ‘Ireland Virtual Travel Expo.”

“Our message for the Australian and New Zealand travel advisors is that, when the time is right, we will have everything ready to welcome their clients back to our shores. We’ll be assuring them that tourism companies across the island of Ireland have been implementing all the required new health and safety measures – but will still be ready to deliver a fantastic holiday experience for their clients.”
