We Are Cork is a new collaborative initiative being launched today as part of a strategy to strengthen Cork as an urban area full of opportunity.
According to Cork County Council, We Are Cork is a strong, clear, united brand. The campaign aims to showcase how unique the Cork region is and how the region hopes to be represented and promoted locally, nationally, and internationally.
Cork City and County Councils, Cork Airport , Port of Cork , Cork Chamber , Cork Business Association and UCC are among those backing the We Are Cork brand. Many of Cork’s landmark buildings including City Hall, County Hall, Port of Cork, University College Cork, CIT’s City Centre Hub on Grand Parade, The Capitol and One Albert Quay, will be turning red this week to mark the launch of branding. The new branding hopes to enhance marketing of the city and county as an all-round great place to live and succeed.
Cork is steadily becoming Europe’s second largest English speaking region and named to be one of the fastest growing regions in Ireland over the next 20 years. €510 million worth of commercial developments are currently underway or have recently been completed, and more investment is set to further grow and develop the city’s staple amenities such as roads and third level education. UCC plans to invest over €350 million to support student accommodation, and development of campus and new schools and €214 million will be spent over the next three years to improve roads in Cork.
Cork County Council Chief Executive Tim Lucey believes that: ‘We Are Cork has incredible potential, we just need to live it now and into the future.’
