Amazon Have Announced They Are Set to Invest in Donegal Wind Farm

It has been announced recently that Amazon Web Services are to invest in a new wind farm that is to be located in County Donegal.

The company has announced three new wind farms in Europe and the US as part of its efforts to reach its long term goal of moving towards  completely renewable energy.

The 91.2 megawatt wind farm will be developed by Invis Energy and is expected to begin providing energy by the end of 2021.

Speaking about the investment  Nat Sahlstrom, AWS’s director of energy said “It’s our first project in Ireland, and the unique thing is that it’s the first unsubsidised project that has been done in the country.”

“We will continue to rely on the Irish grid for energy, however, the new wind farm will help support Ireland’s renewable energy goals towards 2020 and 2030,” Mr Sahlstrom said. “We’re really excited about this new project.”
