Fingal Wants Malahide Music Lovers to Embrace Safety, Thoughtfulness and Sustainability

With the much-anticipated summer music season at Malahide set to get underway when music legends Depeche Mode take to the stage, Fingal County Council is encouraging fans attending the events to be respectful and sustainable concertgoers by utilizing public transport and being safe.

Malahide, known for its stunning coastline, picturesque castle, and vibrant community, is gearing up to host a series of unforgettable concerts with headline acts that include Blur, Sting and Sam Fender over the next two weeks.

As excitement fills the air, it is crucial that people heading to Malahide prioritize their safety, minimize their environmental impact, and show respect to the local community. Due to extremely limited car parking facilities, Fingal is urging all concertgoers to use public transport and active travel options as their primary travelling method. Doing so will help alleviate traffic congestion and contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly event.

Paul Barnes, Event Manager at Fingal County Council, said, “transporting thousands of music fans to the heart of the action, public transport offers an environmentally friendly alternative that reduces traffic congestion and carbon emissions. By leaving your car behind and opting for public transport or any other active travel option such as riding a bike, you not only contribute to the preservation of the local environment but also enjoy a stress-free journey without the hassle of parking.”

The Council was keen to also encourage concertgoers to show respect for the local community. These are memorable and vibrant gigs, and the atmosphere is always enjoyable.

By choosing public transport options such as buses and trains, concertgoers will actively contribute to reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions, making a positive impact on the local environment. The well-connected transport network surrounding Malahide Castle and Gardens ensures convenient access to the concert venue while minimizing the ecological footprint of music lovers.
