Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council’s innovative housing project at Georges Place Dún Laoghaire has achieved significant recognition across many sectors since its completion in June 2018. The project, which involves the construction of 12 rapid delivery houses, has previously received awards from The Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland, The Irish Council for Social Housing, Construction Excellence and from the Irish Green Buildings Council. Last Thursday, February 27th 2020, at a ceremony in Dublin the project received more even further recognition, this time as an award from the Architectural Association of Ireland for architectural excellence.
The purpose of these awards is to encourage higher standards of architecture throughout the country and to inform the public of emerging directions in contemporary architecture. Other recipients on the night included the Toulouse School of Economics and Saclay pour l’Institut Mines-Télécom in Paris by Grafton Architects and the Hanging Gardens in Limerick by Carr Cotter Naessens and Denis Byrne Architects.
