Local Business Brainstorm

A showcase of successful innovators and supporters of local innovation, Mayo Ideas Week is a week-long entrepreneurial series aimed at inspiring new and existing businesses in Mayo.

This is a collaborative project by Nuálann Mhaigheo/Mayo Ideas Lab that helps inspire creativity within businesses, and converts original ideas to authentic products and services. The ‘Ideas Lab’, based in Belmullet, is overseen by the Mayo County Development Board and is part of the county’s 10-year integrated strategy for cultural, social and economic development of Mayo.

The series has been running every September since 2010 and has joined forces with over 30 organisations and agencies to explore the ideas of start-up companies in Mayo; with the hope that advice and insight from supporting businesses and agencies will get new ideas off the ground.

Speaking at the time of the initial launch of the project, former T.D. Michael Ahern said: ‘There are many examples from around the world which prove that geographical concentration of expertise, learning and resources can create a highly fertile environment for innovation.’

Events, workshops, and seminars are running from Saturday 22nd of September, through to the 29th. Two free workshops taking place on Tuesday 25th September, hosted by the Mayo Local Enterprise Office and Enterprise Europe Network, look at the future of work communications and furthering the growth of your business.

The first workshop will consider the impact that global technological, economic & social trends will have on the future labour force. There will be a focus on employee communications and organisational structures, asking and challenging questions on a local level. The latter will focus on the business growth and development opportunities that will be created by having an understanding of the mega-trends impacting on our lives. The afternoon workshop will encourage attendees to consider how to evaluate opportunities in terms of “Impact on Revenues” and Probability of Success”.

Events require online registration prior to attending. Full schedule can be found here.
