A New Tennis Pavilion Is Coming To Blackrock This Autumn

Works are underway for a new tennis pavilion for Springhill Park in Blackrock which is due to be completed this Autumn.

The planned facility will be the new home of Newtown Park Tennis Club, a club first formed in 1992, with 500 existing members catering for both junior and senior club members.

The new pavilion will provide for toilets, changing rooms, store, club room, kitchen, store/playroom plus an outdoor ramp for access, terrace and bicycle racks.

Ruairi O’Dúlaing, Senior Parks Superintendent, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council said:

“DLR has one of the highest rates of sports participation in Ireland and we continue to develop first class facilities for public use so that all our citizens can enjoy sport and physical activity. We are delighted that construction can begin on a new multi-purpose community facility. This club has a strong public access ethos, with funding specifically provided by the Capital Programme. We look forward to the new pavilion opening in Autumn of this year.”
